The Desire of Ages is the best book written on the life of Jesus. It has been read by millions of people and has been in the personal libraries of countless Presidernts of the United States since it's first edition. If you want to get to know Jesus better there is no book written that will guide you to that end. I have read it at least 5 times and reference it all the time. It is w3ithout a doubt one of my favorite books. You can listen to it free on line which i do as well. Check it out.
